Outer Banks Brewing Station, Cashmere Jungle Lords
Event Description:

Don't miss the Cashmere Jungle Lords here at Outer Banks Brewing Station! We'll have live music and drink specials until 2 a.m.!

Their illustrious indie career spans three decades. They have performed with The Who, Gov’t Mule, Robert Gordon, Buckwheat Zydeco, Wall of Voodoo, Del Fuegos, SCOTS. 3 CDs, 2 CD-Rs, two soft download only and 2 vinyl records released. Toured the US extensively, sleeping on some of the finest hardwood floors in America. Music is featured on numerous cable TV shows on MTV and Oxygen Network. When they play live, everyone has to dance. They can’t resist.

During 2008-2011 they released their 3rd full-length CD, Cashmere Jungle Lords/Oodjie-Boodjie Night-Night, and performed at FloydFest. The CD is a compilation that includes their vinyl releases plus three-period bonus tracks that feature the band’s original members.

2007 was big: the Jungle Lords performed at Summerfest 2007 with Gov’t Mule in Manteo, NC; Shamrock the Block St. Patrick’s Day Festival at 17th St. Farmer’s Market in Richmond, VA with Sick Puppies; opened the inaugural edition of The Capitol City Carnival in Centreville, VA with Yard Dogs Road Show on the Starrlight Lounge Stage. They performed at The Neptune Festival in Virginia Beach, VA. They licensed all of the songs from their CD releases to MTV and Oxygen Network. Their music graces episodes of Bad Girls Club, Real World, Road Rules & America’s Psychic Challenge. A previously unreleased song, “The Rip Snorter”, can be heard in an episode of NBC’s Friday Night Lights. The acclaimed PBS music show Music Seen features the group in a live performance.

They hail from Richmond, VA and describe their sound as Southern-Fried Salsa Surfabilly. The current line-up includes Dominic Carpin (the inventor of amp-surfing) on guitar and vocals, Fred Gil-Montero on drums and backing vocals, John “Wayne” Dacey on bass and backing vocals and original bassist John Moore on percussion.

At their Bloodstone Follies CD release party at Alley Katz, they collaborated with the noted Richmond neo-burlesque dance troupe, Nouvelle Burlesque. The show incorporated multi-media projections along with choreographed dance and theatrics. Press writers have placed them with other music acts in the Vaudeville Rock Revival. The band is very versatile and capable of custom-tailoring set lists, volumes and performance style for night clubs, weddings, outdoor festivals and dances.

Little Abner Records released their 2nd CD, Bloodstone Follies, in November 2006. The disc features 16 previously unreleased songs that explore human folly in all its definitions and was originally inspired by a performance guitarist Dominic Carpin witnessed by the Pontani Sisters with Los Straightjackets at Alley Katz in Richmond, VA. A photo shoot for the CD art at Richmond’s historic Byrd Theater yielded a Ziegfeld Follies influenced series of images that harken back to the era of grand live stage productions. The band’s own live show skits are legendary, and at their recent holiday gig, they performed dressed as Jungle Santa and His Pygmy Elves.

The prior commercial release, Southern Barber Supply, was a huge success (Greg Nichol of Atlanta’s Creative Loafing called it “one of my top three of the year”, and stated, “it may be the greatest one band compilation album since the Turtles Battle of the Bands”. All the original tracks found their way onto MTV Real World and Road Rules episodes. They secured national distribution through Red Eye in Chapel Hill, NC, and completed a national promotional tour. An eight week 120 station radio promotion engineered by Dalin Promotions of Miami, FL yielded heavy and medium rotation spins across the country.

The group has also released two critically acclaimed vinyl records: a self-titled four-song seven-inch ep and an eight-song twelve-inch ep entitled Oodjie-Boodjie Night-Night. They have booked and completed dozens of tours across the eastern half of the US. Their repertoire of over 150 original hits and unique versions of songs like Jezebel by Frankie Laine and Whatever Lola Wants from the musical Damn Yankees always generates an enthusiastic response from crowds everywhere. They even perform a dance rock version of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.
