Family Literacy Program

Family Literacy Program (FLP) volunteers provide free home-based tutoring to Latinx children enrolled in Dare County Schools.

Family Literacy Program (FLP)

*COVID-19 NOTE* While social distancing mandates are in place, the Family Literacy Program has put a hold on its home-based tutoring. The FLP Admin Team is working together to figure out what options may be available for families and tutors. However, until new procedures can be planned out, the safety of our tutors and the families we serve continues to take precedence.**

The FLP works in close partnership with local schools, helping students with homework assignments and working to increase literacy, academic, and communication skills, ultimately giving the children a better chance of success in life.

There is a great need for tutoring in Dare County, with an ongoing list of students waiting to get tutors. No Spanish necessary; most of our students speak English. We provide training and introductions to get you started.
