Family Literacy Program
Family Literacy Program (FLP) volunteers provide free home-based tutoring to Latinx children enrolled in Dare County Schools.
*COVID-19 NOTE* While social distancing mandates are in place, the Family Literacy Program has put a hold on its home-based tutoring. The FLP Admin Team is working together to figure out what options may be available for families and tutors as schools begin to shift to in-person instruction. However, until new procedures can be planned out, the safety of our tutors and the families we serve continues to take precedence.**
The FLP works in close partnership with local schools, helping students with homework assignments and working to increase literacy, academic, and communication skills, ultimately giving the children a better chance of success in life.
There is a great need for tutoring in Dare County, with an ongoing list of students waiting to get tutors. No Spanish necessary; most of our students speak English. We provide training and introductions to get you started.
