The Spring Fishing Bite Is on
The first half of last week here in Hatteras was a bit slow due to some foul weather, but plenty of chomper Bluefish ranging from 5 to 15 pounds were caught regardless. The couple boats that tried the offshore waters managed some decent Blackfin Tuna bites as well. Things really turned around Thursday, with anglers getting on some big schools of citation Red Drum, as well finding out the Cobia showed up! Two citation Cobia were caught out of the fleet, with one weighing 76lbs. The Dolphin started showing up offshore that day as well, to add to the continued Blackfin Tuna bite. The week finished off with limits of Bailer Dolphin, a few Gaffers showing up, MORE citation Blackfin Tuna, continued chomper Bluefish, Red Drum citations, citation Black Drum (with one 80lb one caught), and some limits of Puppy Drum sound side. What a week it was, and the weather wasn't even all time, but our fleet put a hurting on the fish regardless.
This coming week is looking real pretty once this bad weather moves through! Monday will be rough with rain and wind, but the winds lay down Tuesday and stay that way through the weekend. High surf Tuesday may keep anglers from venturing too far offshore, but I imagine the inshore bite is going to be red hot. Wednesday through Sunday is looking gorgeous though for whatever type of fishing you are looking to do, so you're going to want to get down here if you can! Otherwise, stay tuned for more reports of the epic Spring Fishing that'll continue here on Hatteras Island as we finish off the month of April.
