The Outer Banks' music and sounds from the 1930s and '40s appear in the present day with From the Mountains to the Sea, a collection compiled by Frank and Anne Warner who recorded more than 15 musicians from the Outer Banks, Elizabeth City, Manns Harbor and other area locations. The couple traveled the American countryside for almost three decades in the mid 19th century, searching for folk songs, ballads and the singers behind them. Thanks to Outer Banks Conservationists, the Warner's North Carolina collection is brought to an Outer Banks audience in the midst of its state-wide tour.
