Just when you thought Muffins and Scones had reached peak baking perfection, owners Julia and Blake Taft announce the return of (cue the drumroll): donuts!
A huge hit a few years ago, Muffins and Scones’ donuts have been on hiatus due to past staffing issues, but they are back in all their cream-filled and jelly-filled glory. Starting around Easter weekend, look for several varieties of filled donuts, including Boston cream, eclairs, cherry, blueberry and more, every single morning.
In its eighth season in 2025, Muffins and Scones is a much-loved coffee shop, bakery and cafe in Avon. With the breakfast menu available all day long, it’s a popular place to grab a quick morning meal or linger over expertly made espresso and coffee drinks on a sofa or around a table in the welcoming atmosphere. This year, they are welcoming a new espresso blend that’s being roasted just for them.
But Muffins and Scones offers more than breakfast. It’s also a great place for lunch, with bagel sandwiches and paninis, and new this year, an expanded sandwich menu. Enjoy a classic club on a croissant, the OBX Caprese panini or a sandwich and a cup of soup on site or take it to go.
Speaking of take-out, here’s a local secret: You can run in any time and pick up pre-made quiches or quarts of soup for dinner. Their potato bacon soup and broccoli cheddar soup are filling and crowd-pleasing, and they always have at least three types of quiche available to take home and heat up. Just get there by closing time, and dinner is done!
When it comes to special occasions, Muffins and Scones is the place for wedding cakes, birthday cakes and celebratory cupcakes. Their loyal team of experienced bakers craft show-stopping and great-tasting wedding cakes, and you cannot beat their turnaround time for special occasion and birthday cakes. Plus, they have whole cakes and packaged slices available in-house every day. Customers love the classic carrot, chocolate and lemon blueberry cakes, and there’s always a special cake of the week.
