From Boo! to Ho Ho Ho!

You may not expect a place called The Christmas Shop and General Store to be a go-to for Halloween decor and spooky scares, but you’re going to be pleasantly surprised as you step inside one of Manteo’s longest-running businesses this fall.

While Christmas is king at The Christmas Shop and General Store, Halloween ranks right up there. The store has several rooms dedicated to Halloween, where loads of animatronics provide a good jump scare. They also have any Halloween decoration you can imagine, from skeletons and witches to ghouls, bats and spooky clowns. There are also lights, trees and, for the less spookily inclined, plenty of pretty, autumnal home decorations.

And with Christmas right around the corner, you’ll want to check out their themed rooms full of ornaments and decorations. Hobbies, school mascots, characters and Outer Banks scenes are popular items. There’s also everything else you need for Christmas decorating and gifting, like trees, wreaths, lights, stockings, cards and collectibles. All ornaments can be personalized for free on the spot, and they make wonderful gifts!

For more than 50 years, The Christmas Shop and General Store has offered a truly one-of a-kind shopping experience. With 25,000 square feet of treasures, you’ll need a map (no kidding!) to explore all they have to offer.

You’ll find something for everyone on your list here. The Christmas Shop and General Store is filled with gift-able items like jewelry, soaps, lotions, candles, kitchen wares and artwork. For kids, there’s a nice selection of toys and stuffed animals, and you can even pamper your pet with their line of pet products.

In the general store, you’ll find food such as locally made candies, coffees, jellies and jams. They also feature local wines from wineries such as Outer Banks-area winery Sanctuary Vineyards and other North Carolina favorites like Duplin Winery and Biltmore Winery. Their staff is educated in the wine offerings and can help with any questions. If you like to try before you buy, they offer a full menu of wines by the glass, wine flights and beer and cider by the can.

With so much to explore, you’ll definitely want to add The Christmas Shop and General Store to your OBX shopping agenda this fall!
