Endless Summer Fun at H2OBX

By Leah Wingenroth | Sunday, June 22, 2025

Nothing puts a damper on a summer vacation like a week of red beach flags warning you to stay out of the ocean due to rip currents. You’ve waited all year to splash in the water and relax on the beach, but, lo and behold, the ocean isn’t swimmable and the wind is tossing sand all over your towel.

Before you drive around aimlessly looking for something fun for the whole family to do, remember that red-flag days are not a problem on the Outer Banks. Here we have an alternative: H2OBX Waterpark!

H2OBX is the Outer Banks’ top family attraction and the only waterpark in the region. With more than 20 rides, slides and activities decorated in vivid tropical colors, H2OBX will brighten up even the most overcast day.

Between the thrill rides, children’s rides, group rides and lazy river, there’s something for everybody at H2OBX, no matter your age or penchant for adrenaline.

For days when the real surf is not great, H2OBX has waveriders covered with its Endless Wave Flowrider surf simulator. You can even enjoy simulated ocean waves in the wavepool. And on Monday mornings at Sand Pail Beach, you’ll find the H2OBX mermaid splashing in the shallows. Be sure to have your camera ready for the best photo opportunity of the summer!

Getting everyone in your group to agree on where to eat can be a chore, especially with summer traffic and restaurant waitlists in the mix. Thankfully, there’s no need to leave the park to find an eatery the whole family can get behind after hours of playing in the water and working up an appetite. H2OBX boasts eight different food and drink options throughout the park, with enough selections to please the pickiest eater, from classic Carolina barbecue, tacos and pizza to funnel cakes and soft serve.

If you want to really make the day special, you can rent one of the many cabanas scattered throughout the park. The standard cabanas are perfect for up to eight guests and include plenty of seating as well as a fan to keep you cool and a locker to keep your belongings safe.

The standard VIP cabanas have all those same amenities, plus snacks, water and dedicated cabana service to keep you fed, hydrated and relaxed. For larger parties of up to 12, you can reserve a deluxe cabana, which upgrades the VIP cabana to include extra seating and a television. For those more interested in spending a summer day relaxing in the shade with a cool drink than riding water slides, the luxury cabana rental options make H2OBX an excellent choice for a day out.

Parties of 15 or larger also have access to discounted tickets and group meal vouchers, perfect for birthday parties, summer camps or family reunion trips.

A visit to H2OBX makes a great gift for your loved one, which is why gift cards are available to purchase on the website and can be used for tickets, food, drinks, retail and cabanas.

Of course, a trip to the waterpark is also fabulously enjoyable on a sunny day. No matter when you go, H2OBX is a favorite Outer Banks attraction for locals and visitors. It makes having a full day of summer fun safe, easy, affordable and convenient. Everything you need is right at your fingertips, so ditch the sand and the rip currents and head on up to H2OBX instead. It’s located in Powells Point, just five minutes across the Wright Memorial Bridge on The Northern Outer Banks Mainland.

Don’t miss out on this one!

Open through September 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Pre-book sure to get your tickets and rentals or just show up ready to have a whole lot of fun.
