FAMILY-FRIENDLY TOURS
The warm, shallow, calm waters of the Pamlico Sound are incredibly inviting for fun, safe watersports adventures. One of the easiest ways to get on the water is on a kayak or standup paddleboard (SUP). These sports are accessible for all ages and nearly all abilities, and the rewards are huge. Take off on a self-guided tour to access wind-protected canals, paddle along the marsh edges, circumnavigate sound islands and stop at soundside beaches. Along the way you’ll see herons, gulls, egrets, osprey, rays, fish and maybe even dolphins. Ocean Air Sports offers single and tandem kayaks, so little ones can go along with an adult if needed.
PLAY WHERE YOU RENT
At Ocean Air Sports’ soundfront dock and watersports center, everything is set up and ready to launch. There’s no need to transport equipment around the island or lug kayaks or SUPs over dunes or along the shoreline to launch. Everything you need is right there waiting for you, including safety gear, so all you have to do is paddle off on your own self-guided adventure. Back at the dock, you can stay as long as you’d like, letting the kids swim in the sound, enjoying a picnic on the dock or eating dinner at the on-site restaurant, Po House. The ocean beach is just across the street.
RETAIL, RENTALS & LESSONS
Ocean Air Sports is Hatteras Island’s complete watersports and windsports center. You can rent or buy gear for windsurfing, kiteboarding and wind- or wave-foiling, and enjoy those sports right on site. If you’re new to any of these sports or need some help with refining your skills, OceanAir Sports has experts on staff offering lessons and helping you select the gear and accessories you need.
