Life Through a Lens of Gold

Yellowhouse Gallery has been on the Outer Banks since the ‘60s, but lately, to borrow a phrase from that era, this gallery’s got a brand new bag. In 2013, Yellowhouse Gallery relocated to Croatan Center on the Bypass in Nags Head and refined their identity. “We needed to carve out our niche,” says Eve Turek, co-owner. “We wanted to place the emphasis where no other Outer Banks gallery does — on high-quality, fine-art photography.”

Eve knows her niche. In 2014, Eve’s landscape photo Meditation was selected to represent the United States in the 23-country World Photographic Cup, where it brought home a gold medal. And Yellowhouse Gallery features eight photographers whose works showcase natural beauty and cultural diversity. “We encourage artists to go beyond couch-sized postcards and beachscapes,” says Eve, “and they do. Their photographs are exquisite.”

Visit Yellowhouse Gallery and experience life through a fine artist’s lens. Browse fine craft including handmade artisan jewelry, pottery, stained glass, art glass and wood carvings. And speak to Eve while you’re there. After all, it’s not every day you meet a gold medalist.
