Lots of Variety This Time of Year

Offshore from Oregon Inlet
Inshore from Oregon Inlet
It’s been a while since we’ve posted an update.
We’ve been bouncing back and forth between offshore and nearshore trips lately, depending on what each group wants to do. One thing that’s nice this time of year is the variety. Some crews want to spend the day trolling, some would rather bottom fish, some are looking to fill the cooler, others want a shot at a billfish, and some just want to stay busy catching fish. We enjoy mixing it up.
Offshore has been treating us well. The mahi bite has been solid, we’ve had a good number of blackfin tuna, and a few sailfish have shown up to keep things interesting. Bottom fishing has also been productive, with plenty of tilefish along with triggerfish, black sea bass, and a few grouper making their way into the fish boxes.
Nearshore has been a little more hit or miss, but we’ve been picking away at Spanish mackerel and bluefish. When the conditions line up, it’s a fun trip, especially for kids and folks who just want to spend a few hours on the water.
Hopefully the fishing keeps building as we get deeper into summer. We’ll keep everyone posted.
