Yippie!! Not the best news, but certainly not the worst either. Overall, for this time of the year, the fishing should be heating up if not exploding, and we just have not seen it YET? The captains I talk to are a little bewildered as well, and the surf just slowed down. The season started with a big bang but has fallen short.

Today, we have more favorable winds throughout the rest of the week, but the ocean is flat. I do see the waves pick up for Friday, but for the next couple of days, they will remain flat but with that said, we finally got some walk-in reports today. The bluefish went off this morning, and I would expect to see some action in the late afternoon as the tide goes out. I saw a lot of lures go out today, and that's when I started to ask questions. If you had something popping on the surface, the bluefish were after it, but not hearing much on bait, and some anglers are or have had nothing on bait, so I am saying lure action for right now.

The tides are just starting to come back into alignment, so hopefully we finish the week off with a big bang. What's absent are the drum and I am not sure why maybe things will change but they just aren't around but one here and there both on the ocean and on the sound side. The piers are off and on, but did see action yesterday and today. The nearshore fleet caught some nice-sized spanish, and the offshore fleet well are having fabulous fishing with yellowfin, big eye, some mahi in the mix with big tilefish and sea bass. They are getting limits on the tuna very quickly!! I will keep you posted.

Charters are ready to go, just call the shop to book!!
Send any fishing pictures in to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com and we will post you in the next fishing report and we thank you all.
