Corolla Fish Report

Well, it's game time!! Specifically, we have a bite going on in Corolla. I feel sorry for the folks who were here a couple of weeks ago because they actually pushed their vacation back a little, hoping for the bite to turn on, and it didn't. I would say that the bite is a bit on the late side, but better late than never. The water did warm up, and we have bluefish, spanish, and they are hitting lures mostly, along with mullet, flounder, and a report of an over-slot size drum. The fishing is picking up, and today we have about two-foot waves, clean and clear, coming right at you. It is just a perfect scenario today, and if I didn't get home so late, I would be out there. It is gorgeous. Some fish are on bait as well. Jennette's pier had a 40.5-inch king mackerel landed using live bluefish and a cobia that broke off. The bluefish and spanish have been fairly abundant off the piers, too. The nearshore fleet with spanish, blues. The offshore fleet with plenty of yellowfin and mahi. The big eye are there from time to time along with billfish.
