Offshore from Oregon Inlet
October 8th offshore with an awesome Family group! We had Virgil, Michael, Stephen and Jeremy Wenger from Harrisonburg Va with us today. I was really split on where to head to first thing this morning as I had two entirely different type days in mind. Long story short I doubted myself and set out in the desert! We covered a lot of ground with what looked like promising rips and hot/cold edges that just didn’t produce for us. We found plenty of those little “Popeyes” as we call them and had a small sailfish come in on our starboard short rigger, just couldn’t get it hooked. We ended up with the last hour and a half of “Hail Mary” mahi fishing!!! These fellas had to re-learn “how they do it” in the farm ponds of home, but we had a blast and got it done! This group of men were a hoot to say the least and very eager about everything that we were doing this day. I hope they had as much fun as we did. Thank you so very much for spending the day with us and please do enjoy that big pile of fresh fillets!
