Celebrate the Seasons at Sanctuary Vineyards and The Cotton Gin

Sanctuary Vineyards and The Cotton Gin kick off the holiday season on November 18 with Currituck Christmas, an afternoon of games and gifts for kids, live music, refreshments, door prizes and a special sale. Santa will arrive Currituck-style, on a John Deere tractor.

Also on the horizon is The Big Curri-Shuck, a celebration of oysters in all their late-autumn glory. “Curri-Shuck is an old-school throw-down with oysters, a coastal tradition that always seemed to take place between Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was a youth,” says Vineyard Manager John Wright. “We want to bring out a good mix of locals and visitors, fire up some loud country music and mix in some steamed local oysters, slow-cooked barbecue and local beers and wine.” Wright recommends Sanctuary’s Pearl Albariño to accompany the oysters. “It’s crisp with citrus and stone-fruit aromas, yet bone-dry and delicate on the finish,” he says. Curri-Shuck will take place on November 25, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
