We have Famous Local Writers Living right in our Midst!

Here are two of our favorite books.

My Life Pile: A Compilation of Stories from the Lifetime of a Hunter/Gatherer, written by Vic Berg, was one of those books that I never expected to love. After all, I’m neither a hunter nor a gatherer. But Vic’s writing placed me in the blind, beside the dogs, behind the binoculars, inside the mind of someone who can sit quietly for hours just watching the skies. And he’s funnier than heck!

Ten Thousand Breakfasts, A Tale of Wonder, by Ocracoker Ann Ehringhaus, tells the story of how her life has evolved through owning Oscar’s House B&B. She puts it best: When did my work become by life’s work? When did hospitality become an open heart as well as an open door? When did I become the person I was born to be? All these things somehow happened along the way, and this book will share some of the journey, with challenges and difficulties, as well as surprises, blessings, and many moments of grace.

About the Author Beth P. Storie
Beth Storie first came to the Outer Banks for the summer of 1976. She fell in love with the area and returned for good three years later. She and her husband published the national guidebook series, The Insiders' Guides, for more than 20 years and now are building OneBoat guides into another national brand. After spending time in many dozens of cities around the country, she absolutely believes that her hometown of Manteo is the best place on earth, especially when her two children, six cats and one dog are there too.
