Event Description:
The centerpiece of Outer Banks Veterans Week is the Outer Banks Veterans Writing Project, a free two-day writing workshop taught by veterans for veterans and active duty service members. Registration for the workshop can be found at www.VeteransWeekOBX.com, or it may be requested via email by contacting dareartsinfo@gmail.com. Interested parties may also follow the project on Facebook at www.facebook.com/obxvwp.

The writing workshop is led by Ron Capps, a combat veteran and professional writer and the instructor of the DC-based Veterans Writing Project. Participants will receive a course curriculum, instruction, and one-on-one guidance. Veterans will be encouraged to continue working on their projects after the seminar, and to submit their work for publication in the Veteran Writing Project’s Literary Journal: O-Dark Thirty. Past participants are welcome and encouraged to register.

“The Outer Banks Veterans Writing Project is part of a growing national movement to enrich the lives of veterans through creative expression,” says DCAC board member Kelli Harmon. “For many, writing an essential tool for dealing with their experiences in the military.”
