Following snowfall from Tuesday night into the early morning hours of Wednesday, the Outer Banks woke up to a gorgeous snow day. The National Weather Service reported snow along the entire coast of North Carolina, with anywhere from 4 to 9 inches being reported from mainland Dare County to Corolla to Hatteras and Ocracoke islands. With residents encouraged to stay off the icy roads, most Outr Banks businesses were closed on Wednesdays. Local schools were called off for Wednesdsay and Thursday. The last time the Outer Banks had a real snow day was seven years ago, in January 2018.
