
Winter coats off, tank tops on – spring break and Easter are here on the Outer Banks. This time of year brings egg hunts, live music, spring markets and plenty of reasons to get out of the house and into the sunshine. If you’re looking for something fun to do at the beach this week, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few events to put on your Easter weekend calendar.

Kitty Hawk Kites Fly into Spring and Easter EGGstravaganza
April 3 and 4
Celebrate National Kite Month and the start of spring with Kitty Hawk Kites. Climb the dunes at Jockeys Ridge State Park to experience massive 30-to-100-foot kites flying high. This event will be held on Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 4 p.m., and it’s free. You can park at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, 300 W. Carolista Drive, or at Kitty Hawk Kites, 3933 S. Croatan Highway in Nags Head.
The Easter EGGstravaganza will be held on Saturday at Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockeys Ridge Crossing in Nags Head. Kids can enjoy an egg hunt for $7, and 15-minute hunts will be held continuously. Town of Manteo First Friday
April 3
First Friday is a fun-filled, family-oriented event held the first Friday of each month in historic downtown Manteo. There is live music music all around town, including The Ramble at Dare Arts, OBX Jazzmen at Magnolia Pavilion, Brad Privott at the Davis Lot, The Bar Cats at Nouvines, a DJ at Lost Colony Tavern and Tim & Woody at Poor Richard’s. Dare Arts will have art exhibit openings by Jackie & Paul Tury, and restaurants and shops will stay open late. The fun starts at 6 p.m. If you plan on staying for dinner, you may want to make a reservation at a Manteo restaurant.
Town of Nags Head Police Department Easter Egg Hunt
April 4
The Nags Head Police Department invites families for a free, fun-filled Easter egg hunt at Dowdy Park. Separate hunts will be held for ages 1 to 5 and 6 to 10, ensuring fun for all. Eggs, candy and prizes will be available. Bring your own basket. The event will take place rain or shine. The fun starts at 10 a.m. Dowdy Park is at 3005 S. Croatan Highway in Nags Head.

Eastertide in the Gardens
April 4
At Eastertide, the beauty of The Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island in spring sets the stage for this fun-filled family event. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. children and families can follow a map of the Gardens’ paths to gather eggs at designated “egg stations” and enjoy live music, crafts, contests, face painting and vendors on the Great Lawn. Prizes will be awarded for egg races and Easter bonnet contests. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos. Food and beverages will be available to purchase. Cost is $16 for adults and 11 for youth ages 3 to 12. Dogs can come for a $6 fee. Pre-registration is highly recommended.
Easter Egg Hunt at Kellogg Supply

Kellogg Supply in Manteo and Coastal Family Church will host a Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at 10 a.m. Bring your own basket. The address is 917 Burnside Road, Manteo.
Frisco Woods Campground Easter Egg Hunt
April 4
Frisco Woods Campground will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. with egg hunts, food and family-friendly activities. The Easter Egg Hunt will be divided into age groups, with staggered start times. Children ages 1 to 5 will begin at 4:15 p.m., followed by ages 6 to 12 at 4:30 p.m. and ages 13 to 20 at 4:45 p.m. An adult egg hunt for participants ages 21 and older will be held at 5:30 p.m., and a valid ID is required. In addition to the egg hunts, the event will include candy and prize eggs, as well as photo opportunities for attendees. Food and drinks will be available on-site including BBQ, hotdogs and sides for a $5 donation. All proceeds from the event will go toward the ongoing effort to construct and later maintain the planned 7.6-mile Frisco-Buxton Pathway, which will run parallel to N.C. Easter Egg Family Event at Blue 42’s Brewing Barn

In Moyock on the Currituck Mainland, Blue 42’s Brewing Bar is hosting an Easter event from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m. The egg hunt starts at 11 a.m. sharp, and there will be Easter Bunny photos, crafts, food and drinks.

Soundside Markets super popular spring market returns Easter weekend at Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. From 12 to 4 p.m., shop among a huge variety of food, drink and arts and crafts vendors and let the kids run around on the lawn. The event site is at 6800 S. Croatan Highway at MP 16 in Nags Head. Parking is available on site.
