Cape Hatteras Secondary School, Escape the Vape: Hatteras
Event Description:

At 14-years old, Luka Kinard from North Carolina began vaping and soon became addicted. Under the vape's influence, this honor roll student and athlete struggled to fight his addiction and the mood swings, behavior changes and financial challenges it induced. After finishing treatment at a rehabilitation clinic, Luka started working to raise awareness about nicotine addiction and the dangers of vaping. He speaks about his experience at events across the country, and has been featured on Today, NBC News, The Wall Street Journal and Inside Edition. Luka will be sharing his story with Dare County school students during the month of February.

The Escape the Vape initiative starts a Cape Hatteras Secondary School. There will be food, giveaways and prizes, including a 40-inch Smart Roku TV and pair of Beats Wireless Headphones. Luka and Kelly will be joined by several of the community's health and wellness resources for youth and adults. This series is organized by the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services, Saving Lives Task Force, Breaking Through Task Force and Albemarle Regional Health Services.

Advanced registration is encouraged but not required.
