Last year Kristy Woodson Harvey released Slightly South of Simple, book one of the Peachtree Bluff Series which followed the story of Ansley, an empty nester living in a quiet coastal town with three grown daughters spread across the country. Suddenly her nest was full again as all three girls (and several grandchildren) came home to roost as they weathered various life crises. The minute readers finished this book they wanted to know ‘what happens next?!’  The wait is over! Kristy has just released book two in the series- The Secret to Southern Charm and the saga of this strong, supportive band of women continues. Slightly South of Simple made the long list for the 2018 Southern Book Prize, The Secret to Southern Charm was selected as a Spring Okra Pick by the Southern Independent Booksellers Assoc., was one of Southern Living magazines ‘Best Spring Break Reads’ and is set to become a summer best seller.  An eastern North Carolinian, Kristy has been hailed as the ‘next major voice in southern fiction’ and this, her fourth novel, proves it. Kristy will be at Downtown Books for a First Friday Book signing on Friday, May 4, from 6pm – 8pm. She will be signing copies of all of her books, reconnecting with her Outer Banks book club fans and sharing a glass of rose with us as we toast the author at 7pm followed by a short reading.  Saturday, May 5, Kristy will be signing books from 9am – 11am at Duck’s Cottage Coffee & Books at the Duck Waterfront Shops, 1240 Duck Road in, you guessed it, Duck. She will also be making a special appearance at the Elizabethan Gardens Derby Day party, tickets available at elizabethangardens.org. First Friday is a fun, family friendly evening in Downtown Manteo featuring live music, art show openings, wine tastings, later shop hours, restaurant specials, book signings and more!
