4th Annual Hatteras Storytelling Festival
The Fourth Annual Storytelling Festival will be held on May 6 & 7, 2016 in Hatteras Village. The festival will include local storytellers who will share their experiences and stories of life on Hatteras Island. This year world renown storyteller, Donald Davis, will be leading a storytelling workshop on Saturday morning and regaling the audience with his stories in the evening.
The event starts on Friday, May 6th at 5:30 with registration and a welcome reception at the Hatteras Village Civic Center that will include a "Taste of Hatteras Village". The evening of storytelling starts at 6:30 with local author and storyteller, Elvin Hooper, entertaining everyone with his stories of life on the island. Clifford Swain, local storyteller and musician will also be entertaining us with his original songs and tales of his summers in Hatteras Village. On Saturday, May 7th, Donald Davis, will hold a storytelling workshop in the morning for those interested in the art of storytelling. The Hatteras Village Library will have a Children's Story Hour at 11:00 and later will have Kevin Dufuss, author and historian, will talk about the truth and legends of Blackbeard. The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum will have Lynn and Ernie Foster talking about the families of fishermen. Jeanne McDougall will be at the Civic Center in the afternoon with seafaring songs and stories. Donald Davis will be entertaining the audience with his amazing stories at 7:00 pm at the Civic Center. At 8:30 there will be music and dance with Blurkey's Quirky Friends.
