Founders Day 52nd Anniversary Celebration
Kitty Hawk Kites invites the public to join in celebrating its 52nd anniversary with a special Founders Day event at its flagship location in Nags Head at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing!
The celebration will begin at 12:00 PM and is open to all — including customers, locals, visitors, former employees, and anyone who has been part of the company’s journey since its founding in 1974.
What began as a hang gliding school on the dunes of Jockey’s Ridge has grown into a nationally recognized leader in adventure recreation, retail, and flight instruction, with locations spanning the East Coast. For over five decades, Kitty Hawk Kites has remained committed to its mission of providing “uplifting experiences” and sharing the spirit of flight and Outer Banks adventure with generations of guests.
The Founders Day celebration will feature:
• A community gathering at the iconic Jockey’s Ridge Crossing location
• A birthday cake celebration
• A shared moment to reflect on 52 years of memories, milestones, and growth
As part of the celebration, Kitty Hawk Kites is inviting members of its extended community to contribute to a special anniversary video project. Anyone who has been part of the company’s story — whether as a guest, employee, instructor, or partner — is encouraged to submit a short video sharing a favorite memory or offering birthday wishes.
