Leatherbacks are rapidly declining in many regions and several subpopulations are critically endangered. Current conservation programs focus on the recovery of the Eastern Pacific Leatherback. Many aquariums like the NC Aquariums are members of AZA SAFE Sea Turtles, led by The Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
