48th Annual Wright Kite Festival
Held on the historic Wright Brothers Monument, this family-friendly festival invites you to experience the wonder of flight, this time, on the end of a kite string. The event celebrates the spirit of aviation and the legacy of the Wright brothers, who made their first powered flight in 1903. The festival is designed to be a fun and educational experience for families and kite enthusiasts alike. Whether you're a seasoned kite flyer or a beginner, there will be something for everyone. Bring your own kite or purchase one on-site, and enjoy the beautiful views of the Outer Banks while flying high in the sky!
What to expect:
- Massive 30–100 ft. kites flying high over the memorial grounds
- Free stunt and power kite lessons led by expert instructors
- Fly your own kite or purchase one on-site from Kitty Hawk Kites
- Family fun for all ages in one of America’s most iconic aviation landmarks
Finally, don't forget to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for a day of outdoor fun. (Don't forget sunscreen!)
