Flounder Season Sept 1-14
Flounder season kicked off Sept 1st and runs to the 14th. SHORT season, but they are here in good numbers and size. The sound has been productive this week with upper and overslot drum showing up in large numbers! Sometimes acres of them at a time. Speckled trout have been biting and large sized ones are being caught regularly. The sound is practically brimming with shrimp so the fish are on a feeding frenzy! The surf action has still been slow with mostly small pompano, spot, croaker and a few black drum. It should get better as we approach Fall. Piers are getting decent numbers of blues and Spanish, with a few ribbonfish, sheepshead and pinfish in the mix. Offshore continues to produce tuna, mahi, and an occasional billfish, when the winds let the boats get out. If you haven't booked your Fall electric powered kayak fishing trip yet, you should before it's too late.
