Corolla to Nags Head Sound

The week has been filled with catches of puppy drum, speckled trout, and flounder too.  The sound has been very productive, especially in shallow areas.  There was even a report of a 50" drum caught yesterday in less than 2 feet of water! (Capt. DeHart's trip)  There's a lot of specks hitting as well as flounder.  Most flounder are over the legal size, but we still can't keep them.  At least not until September 1st. Top water, popping corks, gold spoons, and mirrorlures are the top producers in the sound.  The surf and pier action is picking up a little, with sheepshead, spanish mackeral, blues, some pompano, a few spadefish, and other smaller fish.  Offshore continues to do well with tuna, sails, mahi, and some blue marlin in the mix.  Nearshore is catching AJ's, albies, blues, spanish, ribbonfish, and more.  Have you checked out our electric kayak adventures?  They help us get to places that are away from others, and see very little fishing pressure, all with little to no effort on your part. Spend more time fishing, and less time paddling.
