Corolla Fish Report

Hump day is here. The surf fishing does seem to be a bit slower this week for some reason, but I did get reports in the shop today of some red fish and good size ones at that today, and some good or decent size bluefish, but it's still not like last week's fishing. I believe the water temp has gone up, we are now what I consider a sweet spot, and the temp is at 65 degrees so the fish may just be a little finicky for now, but the bite should turn on. I did pick up some chatter of drum schools, both sound side and ocean side, being reported, so the drum are on the move, moving to the north, so it's just a matter of time before we see some good action. There has been talk in the store that the mullet has not been working in most cases but shrimp has and also those red fish reported today were on fish bites and I will always tell you don't leave home with out them choose whatever bait you want but I always will pin some fish bites in conjunction or on the other hook for something different and they do work!! The last couple of days, it seems that the current goes from mild to wild however, the water clarity is fabulous with the exception of low tide, where it gets a little dirty. The weather has been just great, so a good time, whether or not something is on the line, is very enjoyable. The piers had blues and croaker on them and some late spanish at dusk. The high tide is back in a perfect alignment right now, early morning and late afternoon, and most of the catches have been outgoing tide. Offshore still plenty of yellowfin, while the nearshore boats getting sea bass, cobia, blues, and spanish with some drum.
