Corolla Fish Report
There are lots to get to. I didn't get a report done yesterday; I just had too much to do, so let's get at it. A bunch of pictures came in, and first up is Beth. She is a fantastic friend and a great customer. She spends two weeks here in the spring. The first week was rough with no bites, but she keeps at it. The second week, she got some nice blues and mullet. The best part of it is that she just enjoys the time on the beach, the fish are a bonus! Second up is Matt sent in some pics, another great customer and spending family some time with young Max Parker from Tulsa, OK, landing a nice drum, along with Nana Vaneck from Pittsburg getting some bluefish, so not a bad week for this group. Last but not least and I missed this pic a couple of days ago, but this is a northern star gazer which I have reported on before. You don't see too many of these, and you do need to be careful with these fish as they can zap you with 50 volts of electricity and are also venomous. Now they won't kill you, but they can inflict a lot of pain.
As I mentioned in the last report that the fishing slowed a touch as the water temp popped up to 64 degrees it sometimes just takes a bit of time for the fish to come back around, and they did. Today we see some good wave action and the high tide cycle is morning and at dusk so we are in a good alignment for the week. Water clarity looks good too. On the piers we are seeing bluefish, flounder, spanish and some atlantic bonita. The nearshore fleet are going after the cobia and landing some real nice fish along with bluefish and spanish and moonfish. If you're going offshore, you won't be disappointed Good grade yellowfin with gaffer size mahi are there, and a blue marlin landed yesterday, so all great signs of excellent fishing ahead. We do have a storm coming in tonight, so get out there while you can.
We do have charters available from a half day fishing to full days and everything in between just call the shop to reserve your spot!!
Send your fishing pics to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com and I will try to stay on top of it and get you in the next fish report Thank you all for sending them in, we do much appreciate them!
