Friday, morning started off well with just a mild wind, but it picked up this afternoon. Today's photo was sent in by Paul DeLuca, who has been at it all week for nada, even moving around to different spots, but finally Ray and Paul hit a school of blues yesterday, in Whalehead and it has been a tough week to be sure, but at least their persistence paid off. The ocean itself looks calm today with 1' to 2' foot waves and a water temp of 64 degrees. The current has been very rough this week, and you either adapt to it or go hit a pier and use it to your advantage. People often ask what to do when they cant hold bottom and really there is not much you can do, you can only throw so much weight on the end of your line so you either walk with it, use a lure, go to the pier or back to your beach chair and have a cold beverage, that's it. The fishing has been slow this week, and the weather has not helped any. We did have some anglers do fairly well with bluefish, drum, flounder, and mullet, so it wasn't a complete bust. The piers today have black drum, bluefish, and spanish on them. For those going offshore, the fishing is great with yellowfin, mahi, big eyes, blue marlin, sea bass, and tilefish, so a good mix of fish is there. The nearshore fleet is picking up spanish and atlantic bonita.

Charters are open and available call the shop to book your trip.

Send you fishing photos to obxbaitandtackle@yaoo.com and we thank you.
