Early bird report. Well, this high pressure moved off the coast, and we finally have some wave action back. The water temp today is 74 with 1 to 2 foot waves. The fishing is really pretty good right now, and we do have some drum action with bluefish and spanish popping all over. We are also seeing some big mullet, southern kingfish, spot, and a bunch of croakers. we even had a small cobia landed yesterday to boot. Cut bait is back working with a bottom rig or fish finder rig, depending on what you're going for. Bloodworm will also get you some action. Also, don't forget about throwing a lure as well in those early morning and late afternoon hours. The nearshore fleet is doing well with a mixed basket of spanish, drum, blues, and lookdowns. The offshore fleet has a bunch of yellowfin, wahoo, and mahi. The piers are seeing some good blitzes on bluefish and spanish with mullet, spot, and croakers. Today's photo was sent in by Brendan, our surf fishing instructor.
