Corolla Fish Report
Better for worse. Yesterday was probably the best conditions we have had for this week, and the first picture in the line-up today is a very nice one, I have to say. Apparently, I let the wind out of Ryan's sails from CT, on a report from 8/3 when he was coming in, and I had to go back and re-read it. This has been a rough week to say the least, but he went out yesterday at 5:15 am to go catch a shark, but caught this 32" red drum instead. It has not been red-hot fishing, but we have seen some nice drum this week. Second up, Joseph sent in his photo of his daughter, Ella, with her first fish caught right behind the store here, and it may not be a keeper, but it definitely shows her spirit, and don't worry, Ella, there's a big one out there with your name on it!! Third up was sent in by Michael of his son Benjamin getting in on the action, not letting dad catch them all, and brings in a nice one. The last pic sent in by our fish whisperer, and he does our surf fishing lessons, had a group yesterday, and they landed one, but lost several others. As far as the week goes, it started rough, improved slightly, and today and tomorrow it's back to rough. The beginning of August has been strange to say the least. The piers have some action on them, nothing to really brag about. The nearshore fleet had bluefish and spanish, while the offshore fleet had a good amount of flags flying with white marlin and mahi with a tuna here and there.
