Corolla Fish Report
I missed the last couple of days, so let's get caught up. The last two days were beautiful out, and we had spanish, blues, and even Jack Crevalle, I know the last thing you would expect up here in Corolla. What I am hearing from the beach is folks are saying it's very flat, so the storm we had must have pulled a lot of sand out, and I have not had a chance to put any eyes on it yet. Brendan, who does our surf fishing lessons, has been getting the fish at low tide and says you have to get your line out about 75 yards to get to the fish, while most anglers are coming up empty-handed. So getting your lines out a fair distance is key, which is not hard to do on good weather days. Today and through Wednesday the good old north wind is picking up, and we will see larger waves out so the surf is going to get rough, so you will have to adapt a touch. No pier reports as they seem to be a bit behind this week. The nearshore boats have drum, blues, spanish, and false albacore. The offshore fleet is still hitting the white marlin in good numbers, along with a boatload of mahi. We also had some kite photos come in as a customer came in looking for some heavy swivels which we had and we were talking about his kite and he said it had a 14 foot wing span with an 80 foot tail, I then asked if he was flying it or riding it, but if the fish aren't biting may as well fly a kite!! It is definitely windy enough.
