Corolla Fish Report
The King has struck again!! AJ from Vermont is just tearing it up this week. When I posted his first drum a couple of days ago, I called it good old beginner's luck, but now he's just showing off. The next day, a 21" black drum, and he was in the store early this morning, and then went out and caught a 38" striper of all things. Now, this is his first time in the Outer Banks, but I have a funny feeling we will see him again. AJ, you have certainly earned the title of King of the week and quite possibly King of season 2026th. We also had a call into the shop from a couple of anglers who loaded up yesterday, and they reported getting two black drum this morning, a 22" and a 23" on sand flea and fish bites. Most anglers are using cut-up mullet. The water is clean and clear today with 1 to 2 foot waves, and we expect more of the same tomorrow before we get that incoming rain Saturday and Sunday. The water temp did cool off, we had hit 60 degrees finally, but we are sitting at 57 for today, and it seems the fish don't mind it. Other than some of the larger catches, we do see some really good-sized mullet along with croakers, skate, and dogfish this week. I am starting to see some big bluefish caught to the south of here, so with any luck, they are on their way. I have had no reports of any blues up here getting caught thus far, so they seem to be a little behind schedule.
Charters are open and available. As far as those close bluefin that we have had for the last couple of weeks may be gone have not had any reports for the last couple of days, but you never know. There are drums to get and large bluefish on the shorter trips. All day trips, there are tuna out there with mahi at this time. You can call the shop to set up your trip anytime.
Thanks and I will keep you all posted.
