Time to get back at it! Anglers have had a tough beginning to this week with that cold front coming in and cooling everything off. There just has not been much happening along the beach; however, Keith Burns from Ohio didn't give up and landed a 38" and a 9.25" red drum yesterday on the 4x4 beach with sand fleas, and I had some more reports of red fish getting landed as well just behind the shop. Today we have a south wind and the water temp is back to 68 today so I am hoping for some better fishing for the rest of the week. The piers are packed this morning and there was a strong spanish and bluefish bite going on with gotcha-plugs yesterday and I would expect more of the same today. The water it self looks much better today but I did pick up on some information that the dreaded sea salps are here loading up your lines. This will affect the the shore fishing so using monofilament line is the best thing you can use when these guys are around as braided line gives them something to stick to. These guys are not dangerous but more of a nuisance and its time to change your rigs from a normal bottom rig to a fish finder rig with a float to get them off of the bottom or use s surface lure. These creatures will be here for usually a short time till there food source runs out and the currents take them away. The Nearshore boats also found tons of spanish and bluefish with some cobia being landed. The offshore action is just that it is still going strong with fat yellowfin, mahi, wahoo, big eye tuna, tilefish and white marlin and it just doesn't get better than that folks !!

Charters are available you can call the shop for questions and bookings.

Send your fish pic's to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com and we thank you.
