Update as promised. Today we have calm seas, sunny skies, and if you ask Chris Towers from Middletown, Delaware, the fishing is pretty good. He landed this 51' drum last night. He said he was fishing for drum but noticed some baitfish swimming around, so he switched his rig out to a smaller one. When he got hit by a drum and fought it for a bit before it broke the hook, he went back to the larger rig, and a few minutes later he got this citation drum. Great job, Chris, and thanks for sending your picture in. So the drum are here along with bluefish and trout just about everywhere. I have been saying to everyone up here this week that came in, and we had some stormy weather, that it will take a couple of days for the ocean to calm down and clear up. When you see that mud line from the shore that extends out further than you can even cast, the fishing is going to be bad, as the fish will hold out in the clean water. So we look good right now through at least Friday, when the wind will pick up to almost 30 mph, and it will be out of the north, so the drum will be there, but it will be blowing. Jennette's pier went off again yesterday, with a bunch of drum landed along with blues and trout, so get out there and fish!! I get a lot of folks looking for fresh mullet, especially this time of year, and I will get it from time to time, but this is the last bait shop to the north, and when all the mullet comes up from the Hatteras area, there are a lot of bait shops getting the fish before it ever makes it up here, but as you can see, the frozen works just fine; we have a lot of drum caught up here. The secret is having a line in the water. The water is clean and clear, with a temp of 71 today.
