Wow!! The last couple of day's have been fantastic fishing in Corolla. We also want to congratulate 12 year old Colin from New York on his first time fishing and he picked a good week to do it and the smile say's it all. According to dad Colin is hooked no pun intended, and looks like he caught pompano and spot by the pictures and I'm sure many others. Keep up the good work Colin and great job!!
We have had a nice few day's of fishing with a variety of fish. The water has been crystal clear and you can see the fish. Plenty of kingfish, spot, croaker, bluefish, spanish, pompano, flounder, puppy drum and even king mackerel made a return for the second time this season. Lot's of bait in the water too!! The sad part is that I don't believe anyone has brought a king  in. There has been some hook ups but they have spit the hook out or have been spooled, but it doesn't keep everyone from trying. Yesterday in Carova we had some anglers just killing the Spanish on metal lures and having a great time.
Now for the bad news, we had that dreaded south west wind pick up in the late afternoon and all though the night and cooled the water from 72 to 59 degrees. Most of the fish will hang around and some will seek the warmer water. It is a crying shame so look for the fishing to slow up. We won't see a wind change till Friday afternoon. The piers this morning do have a little action with flounder, spot, croaker and perch and mullet. The nearshore boats having a good day with albacore, spanish ribbonfish and blue's. On the inside it's trout, blue's and puppy drum!! The offshore fleet did well with wahoo, blackfin, tilefish and white marlin. We will keep you posted.

Thanks to everyone for sending in those pictures we love to get them and if you have some to share just send them to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com  and we will make you a star for the day and put you in the archives!!
