Corolla Fish Report
Wow, it's been Hot!! Big heatwave this week makes it a good summer day. The surf fishing has suffered this week with this offshore wind allowing that cold upwelling to come in. The fishing was good at the begging of the week then slowly tapered off and is just slow out there. Then add in the fact that there is a blood worm shortage along with everything else just keeps making this year tough to get through. The piers reporting slow this morning with some mullet, croaker, and spot. The nearshore boats are out there finding albacore, Spanish, and moonfish while on the inside the trout, drum, and Spanish are still on the bite. The offshore fleet saw the action pick up out in the gulf with a good bite going on. Blackfin and yellowfin with wahoo, Mahi, and a lot of marlin flags flying. They are also getting some good size tilefish and sea bass on the deep drops. So a big improvement out there.
We are looking for two people to share a boat with just two others for an 8-hour deep drop trip for tilefish and sea bass on a 50 footer all to your selves. The price is just 290.00 pp and that includes bait, tackle, ice, fishing license, and tip for the mate. If anyone is interested just call the shop at 252-453-3339
Another tip we have completely sold out on charters for six weeks in a row and we were out of spots by Tuesday which is just unheard of. If your planing at all coming to the OBX and thinking of a charter call ahead and reserve your spot ahead of time or you will lose out. Just a helpful hint!!
The store is running out of supplies and there is no word on when I might see another delivery. We should be good on the basics but everything else may be gone for our August guest so if you read this report you are going to find this shortage everywhere on everything, so bring what you have or can get.
Send your photos to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com and we thank you.
