The Drum Beat continues !! Justin and his sister Lauren catching there fare share of drum down in Pine Island area and lately that has been sort of a hot spot for the drum and that's where that 34 incher came in a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for sending in the photo Justin keep up the good work and may the two of you keep pulling them in, I know that big one is just waiting for you, and as always great talking with you.
Well, this north wind was supposed to turn today but it doesn't look like it will. The rough surf and rip current will continue making it hard to fish but does bring in the drum. Along with the drum we are seeing mullet, croaker, spot, flounder, and even some spanish and bluefish. The fresh mullet we had went fast and was the key for getting some drum on the line, so if you catch any mullet out there save one for bait or a spot makes great bait as well !! There also has been some big drum an bass on the sound side if you happen to be staying on that side the fishing hasn't been to bad.
On the piers the spanish are going nuts also there are drum, blues, spot, and mullet. It looks like yesterday they all had some action going in them. As for the fishing fleet,  this wind has been a problem getting boats out. I didn't hear much on the nearshore boats and a few went out offshore and did come back with yellowfin and blackfin, mahi, and a bunch of billfish citations!!
Big waves today with a strong rip out there so beware and be safe and the water temp is 78 today
