Corolla to Nags Head Sound

Tuesday late report, Well, you got to love this guy Matt is back!!  He landed this 40" 22 lbs striper on cut bait and this is how it's done folks he is just doing some simple fishing and doing quite well by the pictures he sends in which I love to get so thank you, Matt. When people send these photos in it lets me know what's going on along the beach helps me to help you, it's valuable information. Now I just need about a dozen or so more Matt's. Tip he is just using fish bites which in return catches mullet which are good eating fish, but then he will cut these fish and use them for bait, Ta-Da!! That's all there is to it.
There is a good mullet bite going on and some areas are producing more than others. The water today is back up to 61 and the hot spot was nags head yesterday 4 to 5lb trout and a puppy drum bite with mullet so a good sign that we are starting to see some trout bitting they have been tight-lipped so to speak. Their water temp is just one degree warmer and sometimes that's all it takes to turn on a bite. The fish are moving up from the south and I said a while back we get a big run mid-May to mid-June at some time so it is coming. The weather really has not been on our side lately and has put a damper on some of the fishing.
The nearshore fleet just battling this wind that doesn't want to go away. They did find some trout and there are some drum around and I don' believe there was anyone offshore yesterday which is a shame with the big eyes coming in but things will improve and I think they are running tomorrow so we will check back in tomorrow and let you know what's happening around here.

We just got a load of fresh peeler crabs in so come on in and get yourself some drum love them.
Send those photos in with your name and where you're from it doesn't matter if it's a mullet or a trophy fish. Just send it to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com we will proudly post you in the next report. My guess we will be seeing a lot of Matt this month.

Charters for June filling up fast call ahead to reserve your spot.
