Corolla Fish Report
Oh, Boy Oodles to Report Today!!! We have had spectacular weather but the fishing has been slow and not to much to report till today. Justin Chapman sent us in some photos and they have been here for a couple of weeks working the beach with not much to show for it till yesterday. The drum showed up for them and caught 10-12 puppies one hitting the 34" mark but all nice fish. We had a walk-in customer this morning loading up on lures because the Spanish are in close and they are bitting. We also had a report of around a 36" Cobia coming in off the surf. So for the Chapman team perseverance has paid off. Thanks for the report and pics. All of this action seems to be on the 4x4 beach. The bait for the drum was sand flea and I believe mullet is what the cobia hit and a rare catch it was up here. Other news Clark Hoskins sent in his pic which I just found it was lost in the e-mail so my apologies Clark but he and his crew caught this nice Shark and there has been a bunch caught up here lately. Great job to everyone I know these are the lucky folks and some are only catching mullet and croaker but if fishing was easy everyone would do it and sometimes you just have to keep working it.
Boy, that sure felt good to have something to report finally and I hope it continues for a while. The water temp today is 81 with 1-foot surf and it starting to feel like it's a great time to get out there. The nearshore boats are coming home with albacore and ribbons for the most part but there have been cobia sittings on the extended trips. On the inside drum and trout continue to be strong. The offshore scene is yellowfin, mahi, wahoo, tilefish, sailfish, white marlin, and blue marlin so not a bad way to spend the day on the water and the ocean conditions are calm and smooth so come get yourself some !!!
