Corolla Fish Report
WOW BIG DRUM SUNDAY !! We had a spectacular morning today on some nice big drum it was game on. Pictures were sent courtesy of Michael Arce from Stafford Virginia and Bill McKay and Danny Shaffer from Reading PA. Michael caught his this morning right by the store and Bill and Danny said they had one on the line on every cast and I think they said they had six in all this morning all caught on shrimp!! So great job you guys and thanks for sending the photos in as they say worth a thousand words. So it seems that the people that listened and used shrimp caught some nice fish for those who didn't well haven't heard from them except from one on mullet. I did hear of some Spanish which we have not really seen in some time but one angler said he caught some good numbers of them also around the shop area. The water is clean and clear today with the exception of the little jelly things people keep asking about. They are called salps or sea squirts and they feed on phytoplankton when it is in abundance they are the ocean vacuum cleaners. They multiply very quickly when there is food available and as they use up their food supply they begin to die off and then wash up on the beach and make a mess of your line. They are completely harmless but a bit of a sticky mess for anglers. The charters are doing well with ribbons, blues, Spanish, and trout. The offshore action was very good with some big yellowfin and big eyes one citation at 166#s wahoo and blue marlin. The water temp today is 72 and nice.
Charters are available but filling up fast so call for yours today!!
