Corolla Fish Report
Here we are Hump Day and at least we have some news. We had some pictures sent in today and we have some good ones. Morgan Hopkins landed a nice drum right down the street from the shop it was 17# and 27" long perfect for the BBQ. We also have Kenneth Cornett and company sent in their very nice shark photo and also had some very nice words they passed along to us and we thank everyone that sent in their photos we do appreciate them a lot!! Now let's head out to the beach we have heard about some drum the last couple of days Morgans being the biggest most I did hear about were puppies. Lots of spot in the water along with mullet, croaker, and this morning we had a walk-in report landing 3# bluefish as the tide was going out, and lasted about an hour before they moved off and they were in close. Other reports of spanish in close this morning also but I don't think they were biting I am just not hearing anything on them but you could see them clearly. The ocean is calm with a light wind today and clean clear water. Most folks are getting fish with some not even a bite. Location is key here sometimes you have to be willing to move especially if you're not getting any hits. The shark fishing has also been good with some caught and some broken off. You need to be ready and geared up to catch these fish from the surf some have it down pat and the first-timers are the rough ones they want to catch one but in most cases, they aren't ready yet, and remember it's the shark that suffers. So do your homework and be prepared. Off to nearshore boats, they have been getting some nice spanish, ribbons, and blues but if you opt to go extended trip you can get some nice amberjacks, sea bass, and tiles in most cases sometimes even some mahi. The offshore fleet yesterday brought home a good load of yellowfin, blackfin, wahoo, mahi, sailfish, tilefish, and blue marlin Boom what a day. At least we had some good news today.
Charters are available and send those photos to obxbaitandtackle@yahoo.com we will make you a star for the day and we thank you.
