With water temperatures slowly rising the fishing is starting to get interesting. Off the beach puppy drum are being caught as far north as Kitty Hawk and south as far as you can drive. The piers are seeing more activity with pufferfish and shad. In the sound the puppy drum are running rampant and we are starting to see popping cork action! One of the first sheepshead caught as well. Trout are starting to show up more and more both in the surf and sound.

Offshore the bluefin tuna are thick. Boats catching many fish that are still keeper size up to 70” in length. A few yellowfin, blackfin and the first marlin of the season was caught on the Afishonado out of the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center.

The artful photo was too good to write on. So thank you Lance Luke for the amazing shot.
