Finally!!! We Have Real Fish in Our Fishing Report!
YES!!! The fan was on low today and we actually have a fishing report from the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center!! An Off-Shore charter group had an excellent day, bringing in 14 nice yellow-fin tunas with an average weight of 31 pounds - great haul for those folks! They also had OIFC's 1st sailfish release of the year today! Hopefully, this is a great start for an awesome year!
In-Shore anglers had great action today, both spinning and fly! They brought in some nice specks and a couple of 20"+ specks were able to ditch the hooks and are now part of a great story that begins, "Let me tell you about the ones that got away.............."! These anglers enjoyed fantastic fly fishing, catch and release of sound stripers. Capt. Pete is hopeful this mild winter will yield super fishing this season and today is a good indication it just might be!
Near-Shore anglers enjoyed a great afternoon on the water as well today, seeing a variety of species within the 7 mile range. Action varied between bottom fishing and trolling for this group and they, too, have a bit of a fish story to tell!
