Benefit Paddle Through Kitty Hawk Woods
Join the Friends of the Reserve and Kitty Hawk Kayak and Surf School for a St. Patrick’s Day fundraising paddle through Kitty Hawk Woods to benefit the North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve northern sites at 10 a.m. on March 17, 2018. Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the upcoming Spring Equinox with a paddle and appreciate the maritime forest greening up around us. We encourage participants to donate some green as well - a suggested minimum donation of $5 (with your own boat) or $15 (KHKSS) will go to the Friends of the Reserve in support of trail maintenance and programs at the Currituck Banks, Kitty Hawk Woods, and Buxton Woods Reserves.
Meet at the Kitty Hawk Kayak and Surf School boat launch at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018, for a guided kayak paddle on Jean Guite Creek. Kitty Hawk Kayak & Surf School is located at 6150 North Croatan HWY in Kitty Hawk right next to Islander Flags. This beginner-friendly paddle will meander through the deciduous Maritime Forest of the beautiful Kitty Hawk Woods NC Coastal Reserve. Bring your own kayak or borrow one from the Kitty Hawk Kayaks and Surf School (KHKSS; limited to 40 boats). At the end of the paddle, refreshments, including local kombucha from our sponsor Ramblin’ Root Kombucha, will be served. In the event of rain, the paddle will be rescheduled.
