Event Description:

The Annual Dare to Scare 5K & Sweet Treat Fun Run will be held at the Dare County Center on Saturday, October 26, 2019. The start line for the 5K is located at the Coastal Studies Institute with the finish line located at the Dare County Center. The Fun Run will take place at the Dare County Center. All 5K Participants are encouraged to park at the DCC. Transportation to the start line will be provided until 8:15 a.m. with no return trips post-race. This event will benefit the Annual Dare County Center Toy Drive held annually in December that serves over 400 local youth residents. The race is being held in collaboration with the Dare County Center, Coastal Studies Institute, OBX Go Far, and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.

The 5K is unique as it leads runners and walkers along the Marshall and Gussie Collins Walkway through meandering scenic woodlands and along the marsh on Roanoke Island. Participants are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best for a chance to win a prize. Prizes will also be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers. Pre-race activities will be held at CSI for runners and walkers to participate in prior to enjoying the course.

Registration is currently open from now through race day. Volunteers and sponsors are also needed. More information and details can be found by visiting www.obxgofar.org  and www.darenc.com/dccenter or by calling the Dare County Center at (252) 475-9270.
