Event Description: 

On August 21st, if you're on the Outer Banks, you have the rare opportunity to bare witness to a near total solar eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between earth and the sun. The phenomenon will be best viewed from Jockey's Ridge State Park, where UV protective glasses will be handed out starting at 1 p.m. Bring water, sunscreen, chairs and umbrellas. The eclipse itself is projected to begin at 1:23 p.m. and end at 4:08 p.m.
