Freedmen, Surfmen, Heroes Live Program
Event Description:
A live program by the Pea Island Preservation Society about the history of Keeper Richard Etheridge and the Pea Island Lifesavers. This popular program is presented at select times during the summer months. Keeper Etheridge was the nation's first African American Keeper in the US Life-Saving Service and lifesaving station Pea Island, the only station in the service with an all-black crew. Come listen to descendants of the Pea Island Lifesavers tell this inspiring part of the history of the Outer Banks. The program is part of the regular admission to the NC Aquarium.
