Happening this Saturday night! 🎃 In 1587, English colonists came to Roanoke Island. Night of 1587 Pumpkins is an event at which we attempt to light 1,587 jack-o-lanterns. The evening will consist of trick-or-treating, contests, and of course, pumpkins! Everyone is encouraged to come in costume to enjoy the festivities. Jack-o-lanterns are provided by our community, so come to the Gardens to carve a free pumpkin on October 24th or 25th that will be added to the pumpkin path. Or bring your own carved pumpkin(s) to the event!

It's a wonderful day the at beach and the fish are biting: CROAKER, BLUEFISH, SPOT, SAND PERCH, SPECKLED TROUT and SEA MULLET. Water is 67 degrees, air temp 60 degrees. Winds are NW at 10 knots. Low tide 10:32 a.m. and High tide 4:48 p.m. Mitch McKinney from Currituck County pretends to eat a fish.

It's a beautiful day at the oceanfront! So far, anglers are catching RED DRUM, CROAKER and PUFFERS. Ocean temp 67 degrees, air temp 63 degrees. SW winds at 10 mph. Low tide 9:25 a.m. and 10:22 p.m. High tide 3:50 p.m. Virginia's Cody Keys caught this one last night.

Very Important People -- Jinky Davenport flashes a smile while volunteering at this year’s North Carolina Visually Impaired Person’s Fishing tournament. This “VIP” event lures dozens of anglers from across the state for fishing, food and fellowship on the Outer Banks. Davenport is pictured, from left, with her favorite angler, Ambrose Greene, as well as her grandsons Shane and Hank Reynolds, who attend the Wanchese Christian Academy. ‘We’ve been fishing with Ambrose for 15 years,” Jinky said. 'He’s been with one of these Reynolds boys whole time -- we pick him!’ N.C. Lions VIP Fishing Tournament
