Autumn talks with Scott Dawson, author of The Lost Colony and Hatteras Island and Croatoan: Birthplace of America. A native of Hatteras Island, a history buff, an amateur archaeologist and founder of the Croatoan Archaeological Society, Dawson explains why he believes the lost colony of Roanoke Island was never actually lost.

A little taste of Fall color in the Elizabethan Gardens. Some of our newest plantings from this spring are starting to come to life! We hope to see everyone soon for 1587 Pumpkins with lots of cool days to walk here between now and October 28. Also! Our Camellias are just starting to open their soft, pink and white petals. Come check out the first blossoms of fall. We have some pretty nice Camellias for sale in the nursery, too.

We are so excited to announce our next cocktail event! Outer Banks Distilling & Matthew Joyner will be teaming up with us to create a fantastically spooky costume party and cocktail class on October 22nd in Downtown Manteo! We will be making and teaching 3 Halloween themed cocktails with @outerbanksdistilling rum! We will also have fun food, music and prizes for the attendees with the best costumes! We are asking anyone that can, to bring 1 non-perishable food item so that we can help provide our community’s food drives with some much needed help! Thank you in advance!
